Molly-Anne – ‘Glow’ Released Today

It’s always fantastic to hear new releases from artists in the UK and today we spotlight Molly-Anne for the first time. Her 3 song E.P. ‘Glow’ was released today and the record is high in quality throughout.

The title track will have you dreaming of the upcoming summer, and gives you a great introduction to the enchanting vocals of the UK based singer songwriter. ‘Young Fever’ sees the record lower the tempo and shows a particular guile in the writing. This second number, looking back with regret on a past relationship, lasts just over six minutes – this might seem an age in the current climate of country songs, but this might be the most pleasurable six minutes of your day. To me this is the standout track of the three. The final track, ‘Corona Del Mar’, also looks back on a past relationship (a summer relationship in California), an upbeat, catchy track where the singer shows off both emotion and attitude.

For a debut E.P. ‘Glow’ is simply excellent. Molly-Anne’s vocals are strong throughout, and while the songs have an airy, country pop feel, there is much meat on the bones – the songs are catchy, but you’ll also find yourself listening intently. In an industry obsessed with songs arriving in neat 3 minute packages, it’s nice to see an artist taking a risk and moving out of the ‘box’ – and Molly-Anne pulls it off.
