LIVE REVIEW: Ward Thomas ‘Restless Minds’ Album Showcase – London

Tonight (Tuesday, January 29th) Ward Thomas held a mini album showcase at the Megaro Bar in London for their forthcoming third studio LP ‘Restless Minds‘ ahead of its Friday, February 8th release.

The small press event was for a select number of press who were invited by Sony, and or the girls’ PR and management team.

The LP playback started at around 5.45pm with Catherine and Lizzy kicking off with lead single ‘Lie Like Me’ which is a Country-Pop crossover hit that shines a light on the dangers of Social media and how we portray a filtered lifestyle online.

This lead nicely into the next track ‘No Filter’ which Catherine said was written after a session where they opened up about how young people in particular feel a need to portray a “perfect” life online in order to feel worthy or successful when in fact we’re better without a filter.

Up next the record making duo showcased the stunning ‘No Fooling Me’ which is the most natural sounding Country song on the album and one that really showcases the twins’ breathtaking harmonies.

It was then time for the standout ‘One More Goodbye’ which again shines a light on Ward Thomas’ vocal harmonies while also showcasing their lyrical maturity and growth.

To close out the ‘Restless Minds’ album playback the sisters introduced the heartfelt ballad ‘This Too Will Pass’. This is the  LP closer and it’s a track that takes us back to the early sound of Ward Thomas, with Catherine playing guitar. Although she did forget to bring her own guitar so had to borrow band guitarist Billy’s instrument much to the amusement of the intimate gathering.

After the mini set Catherine and Lizzy worked the room chatting happily to press members where they confirmed that their upcoming tour will see them using mirrors on the stage.

The duo also confirmed that they will hopefully be at the upcoming C2C Festival in some capacity.

Overall the ‘Restless Minds’ playback was a huge success that showcased the breadth of musical styles we can expect from the full record next week and also shines a light on the level of growth the girls have achieved since their last LP ‘Cartwheels’.

Tickets for the Restless Minds tour are on sale now!
