Ahead of her debut UK performance at C2C (Country to Country) Festival next month, US Country music sensation Carly Pearce has shared the official music video for her incredible new single ‘Closer To You’.
The fun, 90s infused track was officially released back in November of last year and acts as the first official taste of her upcoming sophomore studio album which is slated for release later this year.
The new album, which Pearce is currently working on in the recording studio will be the follow up to her massive breakout debut offering ‘Every Little Thing’ which dropped in 2017 and put the singer/songwriter on the map as one of the most exciting female artists in the genre at this current time.
The lead title track which was inspired by a particularly painful breakup made Carly Pearce a household name in the Country world. It became a huge chart hit peaking at number 1 on the Official Billboard Country Airplay Chart and became the highest charting solo female debut since 2015.
This feat made Pearce one of only four women to debut with a song on top of the chart in 15 years. This was a wonderful achievement and set out a marker that Carly is an artist who is ready to dominate the genre for many years to come.
And now, the singer has shared her official music video for latest hit ‘Closer To You’. The video premiered yesterday afternoon via a live YouTube stream which saw Pearce jumping online for an exclusive chat with her loyal fans as the video played for the first time.
Speaking about inviting her fans to watch live, Carly said: “It’s no secret I want my fans to experience this exciting journey alongside me – from awards, tours and even my special relationship with Michael [Ray]. As the lyrics say, ‘all I wanna do is get closer to you’ and that really rings true for me so I was happy to spend a little time chatting online before we all watched the video for the first time.”
The cinematic clip which also features a little cameo from Carly Pearce’s fiancee and fellow Country superstar, Michael Ray, was filmed in the Country Music capital of the world; Nashville with director Mason Dixon.
The moody/dark tone captures lights-down-low moments and gentle embraces with the lovers. The scenes shift as Carly lingers in a gorgeous emerald dress yearning for her beloved before they are united in “a fast car, gassed up, sitting in the drive way.”
It’s a standout video from an artist who is well and truly doing things on her own terms;
