At Belles and Gals we’re big fans of the UK country music scene, and by association we’re also big fans of the people who make things happen behind the scenes in UK country music! Therefore it was fantastic to see ‘Triple Fret’ appear on the scene last week – a company who describe themselves as “the first full service record and artist management company specialising in country music based in the UK”, while stating that “our primary objective is to support and grow talent that we believe in” – which is an objective, that we as a site, are fully in agreement with!
What was particularly exciting was to see who Triple Fret would be naming as their batch of ‘managed artists’, most of which will be very familiar to readers of Belles and Gals, while two of the artists have also featured at our recent London shows!
Here is the line up and the artist bios:
Two Ways Home
Hailing from Vienna and Gloucestershire respectively, alt-country/folk duo Two Ways Home are formed of Isabella Mariee and Lewis Fowler. Over the past three years, the duo have gone from strength to strength in the UK country industry, with their debut EP ‘Wood for Trees’ (March 2015), ‘Better Days’ (December 2015) and ‘Closest Stranger’ enjoying radio play on Chris Country, BBC and Amazing Radio, and international touring with artists across the country/Americana spectrum from Phil Vassar to Red Sky July.
The duo’s sound is incredibly unique, reflective of the genre itself bridging the gap between country and Americana. Having co-written with artists such as Logan Brill, Demi Marriner and Adam James, the duo’s songwriting does not just cross international boundaries, but pushes the boundaries of the genre and lyricism. This year, the duo will release their debut album, a project that will showcase the many facets of their musical talent.
Originally from Devon, Clara Bond has been making waves in the UK country scene with the release of her first EP ‘Out of Towners.’ Since the release of ‘Out of Towners,’ Clara has been working hard, spending time on the live circuit – including supporting both Lindsey Ell and Wildwood Kin, and further exploring her sound toward an increasingly modern and broad approach to the country genre. An exciting young talent, Clara has a refreshingly honest take to songwriting and the music industry itself. Her core outstanding vocal ability and flair for lyricism and performance make her a unique and provocative talent in the genre.
O & O
From Colorado and Israel respectively, O&O are formed of Orian Peled and Obadiah Jones. The duo met at LIPA in Liverpool and have been performing together ever since. After select shows in NYC and Nashville, O&O relocated to London in 2017. Having released their first EP, ‘Tears in the Rain’ last year, the duo have garnered the attention of BBC London, Chris Country Radio, UK Country Radio and notable country music blogs in the UK and US, alongside selected festival appearances at Cambridge Folk, Buckle & Boots, Country to Country and Black Deer in 2018.
The duo’s distinctive, close-harmony sound with an Americana flare is reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac meets The Civil Wars. This year the duo is set to release their second EP, alongside tour dates throughout the UK.
Amy Kathryn is a bright, young talent set to take the UK country industry by storm. Having studied music at BIMM, she released her first EP, ‘Start Again’ in 2018 and has been honing her sound both in the UK and Nashville. She earned the attention of Triple Fret Entertainment owing to her clever lyrics and pure, unique tonality to her vocals.
Amy is set to release her second EP later this year on Triple Fret Records, a project that will showcase the maturity of her songwriting.
