A key artist on the British Country music scene, Sam Coe, has launched a stellar solo career today (6th September) with the launch of a brand new single ‘Hard Time’. After receiving critical acclaim and praise as the lead of Sam Coe and the Long Shadows, including Belles and Gals own Nick Cantwell stating “Sam Coe’s delivery has that perfect mix of sass and attitude that can make a great country song”, ‘Hard Time’ sets a new tone and direction for Sam and is a reflection of her determination to lead the UK country scene onto a unique path.
The track is a powerful start to a flourishing career. By taking influence from traditional country, Americana and Soul and matching the tone with rock and blues undertones, Sam Coe creates a sound which is heavily traditional but creates a unique sense of self through talented songwriting and heavy, yet sweet, vocals. Vocally powerful with simple melody and an ever-developing narrative, ‘Hard Time’ leads the path for Sam’s upcoming debut album set for release prior to the end of the year on Gingerdog Records.
As a taster for the upcoming debut, Sam has developed an appetite for the record and is a leading example of the homegrown talent that the UK is producing. By drawing influence from artists including Brandi Carlile, Margo Price, Larkin Poe, First Aid Kit, Bonnie Raitt, Patty Griffin and Emmylou Harris, the album is sure to be a cacophony of sonic influences whilst developing a truly unique sound of its own.
With the aim of leaving her mark on the world, I am positive that Sam Coe will continue to do so as a committed, vocally strong, melodically sound, sonically unique artist.
