Fresh from wowing listeners with hit singles ‘What If I Never Get Over You’, ‘Pictures’, ‘Ocean’ and ‘Boots’, multi-Grammy award-winning trio Lady Antebellum consisting of lead vocalists Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott and songwriting and production genius Dave Haywood have today (Friday, October 25th) shared their stunning new release ‘What I’m Leaving For’ off their forthcoming ‘Ocean‘ album which drops November 15th.
The sentimental ballad is all about how the trio struggle leaving their partners and young children behind when they head out on tour across the world, but know deep down they are doing the right thing. An issue that Hillary described as “mom guilt“. It’s a hard-hitting subject and one that will no doubt strike a chord with working parents the world over.
The lyrics are sweet and tell the story of how they can only walk out that door to go do what they need to because they know their loved ones know what they’re leaving for. The simple, stripped-back production takes listeners back to the original Lady Antebellum sound of 2006 which had fans falling in love with their breathtaking three-piece vocal harmonies and simplistic country approach.
Along with sharing the single, Lady A have also released the adorable music video for ‘What ‘I’m Leaving For’. The clip consists of home video footage of the band with their cute kids and loving husband and wives. It is the sweetest video you are likely to watch this year. The video perfectly encapsulates the songs lyrical message and overall sonic vibe, you can watch the clip here:
It’s wonderful to see Lady Antebellum being so raw and honest with this new record which will be released next month. They have made a conscious decision to return to their original sound and the results are truly breathtaking.
