It may be only November but I’m sure most of you will agree that it’s never too early to listen to festive songs from female country artists!
And now there are two more to add to your playlist, thanks to the hugely talented Canadian artist Tenille Townes, who teased us with news of their release when she was in London recently for “Country Music Week” to perform her first ever headline show as well being part of the Country Hits Radio Hub.
She has chosen to put her own spin on one of her favourite classics, “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire) and this is coupled with a brand new seasonal song, “One In A Million” which Tenille co-wrote with CMA and Grammy winning producer Daniel Tashian. While they were written nearly 75 years apart the similar production they are given here helps them dove tail together perfectly, a simple guitar accompaniment to the fore on both with some stunning sweeping strings in the background. They showcase the more romantic side of Tenille’s versatile voice while also demonstrating it’s jazz like abilities.
Like the cover song which I’m sure needs no introducing, the new write conveys a simple message and paints a cosy picture, with singing about sitting watching snowflakes falling on Christmas Eve, each one as unique as her love who is there with her and is also “one in a million” . Her wish is that they are able to do the same every Christmas. This has the making of a modern “Christmas Classic ” in my opinion, I’m just sad that we are unlikely to hear either of these releases live when Tenille returns here in March for C2C!
