O&O, already well known on the UK Country & Americana scene for their lush vocals and layered harmonies, are back this Friday with their beautiful new single “Leave It Til Tomorrow”
This plaintive, melancholic acoustic-led ballad is in many ways the perfect follow up to their previous single “Dancing on the Floor”. Whilst “Dancing” was very much an up-tempo, foot-stomping, reckless number about following your darker side no matter what the consequences, “Leave It Til Tomorrow” evokes the quiet unease of having to face the music of those actions in the cold twilight of the next evening.
Co-written with Laura Oakes, established UK country artist and songwriter, the lyrics tell of a relationship fraught with complexities and possible infidelity but whose commitment remains;
“Our love is dyed in shades of blue, but still I wake up next to you”
Although the situation needs to be resolved, as ever the plea is to
“Leave it til tomorrow” with “Let’s pretend for now it isn’t real”.
Reminiscent of early Dixie Chicks the stripped back intro and first verse build to the fuller sound of the duo and more luscious layered harmonies towards the end of the track with a perfect unresolved chord to an unresolved situation. The use of banjo and electric guitar give a caramel-like depth to the mellow mood of the track.
An international act with roots now firmly established in London, O&O comprise Orian Peled on vocals, from Israel, and multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Obidiah Jones from Colorado. If O&O are new to you, the new single “Leave It Til Tomorrow” is a perfect introduction to the vocal and musical talent of the duo and as they say their “current exploration of the intricacies of romantic relationships”.
The originally planned launch event at the legendary London venue the Spice of Life has been rescheduled to 18 September 2020, with support from Robbie Cavanagh & Jess Thirsten – limited tickets on sale now
You can find O&O every other Sunday on their “Sunday Socials” acoustic live stream concerts and although we are all having to forego the usual full band, live gig, single launch experience at the moment, O&O will be performing a very special YouTube Live Stream Concert on Sunday 26th April to launch this delicious new single. Enjoy.
