“Country Does Christmas” Part 2!!

I’m hoping that by now most of you have read the latest edition of our online magazine ( ok, it’s a busy time of year but as always it’s well worth taking the time to check out https://www.bellesandgals.com/2020/12/03/magazine-december-2020/ ).
I really loved the fun answers I received from artists for my contribution, “Country Does Christmas “, and decided to pose the same questions to a few more of my favourites. All three of these talented ladies have managed to have a productive and exciting 2020 which has included each releasing new music despite the challenges the year has thrown at them. Thank you so much to the wonderful Caylee Hammack, Erin Enderlin and Joey Clarkson for taking time out of their busy schedules to reply…..

What Three Words Best Describe Christmas For You?
Caylee : Home , Warmth, Family
Erin : Faith, Family, Pie
Joey : Family, Love, Joy.

Do You Have A Favourite Childhood Memory Of The Festive Season?
Caylee : One year Santa wrapped all of my gifts in ” Hello Kitty ” paper when I was 5 or 6. I remember exclaiming to Mama that I didn’t know Santa had wrapping paper like ours!
Erin: Not a specific memory, more than anything I loved being with all my family.
Joey : One year ( aged 9/10?) I was being particularly rotten to my parents and my Auntie Deen stepped in , silenced my tantrum and dished out a creative punishment…..every year on New Years Eve and after we’d taken the decorations off the tree we lit a gasoline trail to the bonfire pit where we watched it go up in flames ( we are an odd family!) …well that particular year she made me drag the trees around the upper field of my family’s farm by a rope and it was the one year we actually had a white Christmas with a sizeable snowfall. And I’m pretty sure I pulled from the base of the tree to the top, adding extra resistance! Not my favourite memory at the time, but it is now!

Do you decorate your home and if so do you do things subtly or go all-out crazy?
Caylee : I go home to help my parents decorate theirs. I have never had my own home where I could truly decorate here in Nashville but this year I do! And I can’t wait to get a real tree!
Erin: Not much, my cat Porter kinda makes a tree out of the question haha !!
Joey : We put up a Christmas tree, but don’t go over the top. If we had more space for storage we definitely would!

What’s your favourite Christmas…

Caylee : ( no reply….guess she loves EVERYTHING!!)
Erin : My Dad’s pecan pie
Joey : Pumpkin Pie

Caylee : ” It’s a Wonderful Life ” is for sure my fav!
Erin : ” It’s A Wonderful Life” …I watch it every year, usually at the Belcourt here in Nashville.
Joey : Elf

Caylee : ( No reply….but maybe these are contenders, what great versions!)

Erin : Well as of this year it’s Terri Clark singing my song “Cowboy Christmas”. My favorite classic is “White Christmas”

Joey : Carol Of The Bells ( Joey has just released her own gorgeous festive offering, “December”)

I hope you and your loved ones manage to enjoy the festive season in some shape or form in these weird times… for Erin it will certainly be a pretty special Christmas Day as it’s just been announced she’s stepping into the circle on the Opry stage for her 11th performance there that evening, something her family back in Arkansas can tune into and which can unite them is a very 2020 type of way!
