Having spent most of 2020 songwriting with some huge hitmakers including Toby Gad (Beyonce, John Legend) Mozella (Miley Cyrus, Ellie Goulding, Kelly Clarkson) and Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran, Camilla Cabello), 2021 looks like being a massive year for Megan McKenna. She’s booked to play the main stage at the prestigious Isle of Wight festival this Summer and is also scheduled to support the legendary Lionel Ritchie on his upcoming UK tour, circumstances permitting of course… and watch out for some of those new songs which I’m sure we’ll get to hear in the coming months! But what better way for her to start the year than with the release of “This“, her original song that fans have been clamouring for Megan to record ever since she performed it on the final of “The X FactorCelebrity”, a competition which of course she went on to win.
Her first release since signing a new deal with frtyfve records, the song showcases Megan’s beautiful tone alongside the passion and power in her voice, while its reflective lyrics perfectly encapsulate the journey she and her fans have been on together. Its powerful message of staying strong and holding on to your hopes and dreams will no doubt resonate with people for a variety of reasons. To quote Megan“I’ve had so many knock backs which have made me who I am today. Some people might have given up, but it gave me more fire inside and more determination. It’s been a struggle, but I’ve come out stronger and that’s what ‘This’ is about. What I love about the song is that it can have so many different meanings. For some people it might be about love, happiness, family or friendships. It can be about overcoming any of life’s struggles.”
