Today we’re delighted to feature Lisa T for the first time. Lisa came to our attention last weekend when her single, ‘A Year Too Long’, hit the top 2 of the UK iTunes chart. We caught up with Lisa to talk about the single, her career, and her inspirations.
Hi Lisa, I have to say I think your new single ‘A Year Too Long’ is wonderful, with a real summery vibe. What was the inspiration behind the song?
Thank you so much! The inspiration behind ‘A Year Too Long’ came from splitting with my fiance before lockdown. We shared a property so still lived together and have only very recently moved out (a year later). When I wrote this song a couple of months ago, I reflected on the additional year we spent together and how beneficial this was for my own persoanl growth.
Can you tell us something about the writing process for the track? And does this follow your usual writing process?
I will tell you a secret. I actually woke up in the night with the melody for the chorus of ‘A Year Too Long’ in my head! I wish I could say that there was a really interesting story behind the tune as alot of people have commented that it is very catchy, but as Beyonce would say, the reality is ‘I woke up like this!’
Tell us something about your music career? Have you always wanted to be a singer? And which artists have inspired you?
I have loved singing ever since I can remember. I was in lots of theatre shows when I was younger and my Dad always sang and played the guitar. I’ve always loved Shania Twain. I had all her albums growing up. She has always been my number 1 inspiration.
And if you could look into the future ten years, where would you like to see yourself?
Ahhh I dont know where I see myself in 10 days never mind 10 years! I would love to perform in Nashville one day though!
To finish, tell us about your dream gig – which venue would it be at, and who would join you on stage for a duet?
My dream would be to perform with Taylor Swift at Coachella!
While Lisa T might be new to us, based on the strength of the new track, this certainly won’t be the last time you see her on Belles and Gals.
