At the lively Golden Trailer Awards last night in LA, comedian Morgan Jay opened his hosting gig with a jest, acknowledging the typically solitary nature of the audience’s work. “Many of you might be more accustomed to a dimly lit room, ignoring family phone calls,” he quipped, as he distributed some quirky party gifts, adding, “Here are some Zyns and Celsius to make you feel at home.”

The 26th iteration of this annual event honored top achievements across feature films, television, and various digital and print campaigns. Taking place at the elegant Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, the event kicked off with a bustling pre-show party, complete with an open bar that attracted a large crowd of editors. “This beats The Clios any day,” remarked one attendee, beer in hand. The festivities continued unabated inside the venue, where within the first 15 minutes, ushers repeatedly offered up beers, and by mid-ceremony, bartenders were navigating drink carts down the aisles. Presenter Kate Flannery encouraged the merry atmosphere, prompting the audience to celebrate the open bar with enthusiastic applause.
The desire to unwind was palpable among the attendees, possibly fueled by some recent disheartening developments in the industry. Noticing a line of seat fillers, a nominee joked about the recent closure of the film trailer division at Trailer Park, a well-known marketing firm.
The event itself moved briskly, featuring notably brief acceptance speeches, none exceeding 20 seconds. (Adrien Brody might want to take note.) The evening’s standout was “Project Hail Mary,” which snagged multiple awards, including Best Drama, Best Fantasy/Adventure, Best Music, and the prestigious Best of Show, each topped with a miniature golden trailer.
