Alison Krauss – Windy City Released Today

The long awaited new album from Alison Krauss is released in the UK today – Windy City. This is Alison’s first studio album since ‘Forget About It’ was released back in 1999. The album was released stateside just a couple of weeks ago and went straight in at number one.

The album features ten classic country songs by such artists as Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Loretta Lynn. Standout tracks on the album for me are the brilliant and atmospheric ‘I Never Cared For You’ originally recorded by Willie Nelson over half a century ago and the title track ‘Windy City’ (which you can see above).  River in the Rain is another simply beautiful track, while my personal highlight is the outstanding cover of Glen Campbell’s ‘Gentle on My Mind’. The ten tracks chosen ensure that this album is indeed all-killer, no filler.

The combination of 10 classic country songs and the sweet delivery of Alison Krauss is almost perfection. If you like country music, this is a must buy.
