Ward Thomas and The Shires are the two duos being credited with the huge boom and interest in UK country music in Britain at the moment. Both British acts have made and broken records over the past two years with Ward Thomas being the first ever Brit country act to score a UK number 1 album and The Shires being the first UK country act to sign to a US label. These are just two of the huge landmarks out of many achieved by the modern country bands making the genre a massive success over here in Britain.
So, with all their success it makes sense that event organisers and fans would want to see both acts together on the same bill. And now they have got their wish. It has been announced that The Shires and Ward Thomas will perform a joint gig on July 14th at the Colston Hall in Bristol as part of the city’s Americana Weekend ‘River Town’.
Of course this is not the first time Ward Thomas and The Shires have been joint headliners. Back in 2014 they took part in a joint co-headlining tour of the UK and Ireland but this is the first time since hitting major success that they have been booked as joint headline acts.
Tickets for their eagerly anticipated show go on sale April 7th.
