Miranda Lambert – Automatic

‘Automatic’ was the lead single from Miranda Lambert‘s fifth studio album ‘Platinum’. The album would storm to the top of the Billboard 200 and the Top Country albums chart – making her the first artist in the history of the latter chart to start her career with five number on albums.

This single was a co-write alongside Nicolle Galyon and Natalie Hemby and is a nostalgic number about how things used to be ‘back in the day’ and how things possibly come too easy today. Lyrics such as ‘Seems like only yesterday I’d get a blank cassette, Record the country countdown cause I couldn’t buy it yet, If we drove all the way to Dallas, just to buy an Easter dress‘.

‘Automatic’ would be followed up by singles ‘Little Red Wagon’, ‘Smokin and Drinkin’ (a collabaration with Little Big Town) and ‘Something Bad’ (a collaboration with Carrie Underwood). The album ‘Platinum’ was released on June 3rd 2014 and the following day Miranda Lambert would perform ‘Something Bad’ with Carrie Underwood during the CMT awards.

‘Platinum’ would win ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2014 CMA Awards and the ‘Best Country Album’ at the 2015 Grammys.
