New Music From Whitney Rose

Canadian born Whitney Rose, now a mainstay of the country music scene in Austin, Texas where she currently lives and performs regularly at the city’s legendary Continental Club, thrilled her fans earlier this week with the announcement that her next album entitled “We Still Go To Rodeos” will be released on April 24th. The follow up to her critically received 2017 album “Rule 62” , it sees her working for the first time with producer Paul Kolderie. All twelve of its tracks have been written solely by Whitney with its lead single “Believe Me, Angela” available now, and what a stunner of a song this is! The Angela in question is the woman with whom her husband has been cheating, but she decides against wreaking revenge on her and instead warns her to walk away before the inevitable happens and he cheats on her too. ” I know you’re not who I should blame, I talked it over with my friends and went and keyed his car instead” she sings, advising her to ” run away while you can… find someone who’s gonna stand by you”. It’s an unusual twist on a cheating song for sure, women looking out for one another. I really hope there’s a video to come!
Sonically it has the trad country sound we have grown to expect from Whitney over the years, not surprising as she she is a massive fan of artists such as Tammy Wynette, Kitty Wells, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, and there’s some gorgeous steel in the background alongside some great lead guitar .

Alongside tour dates across her home state of Texas, which include the SXSW Festival next month, Whitney will be playing California’s Stagecoach Festival on album release day and later in the year is visiting Norway and Sweden for a string of dates.
