This Halloween, Salma Hayek looked to her close friend Penélope Cruz for costume inspiration—quite literally borrowing from Cruz’s on-screen persona.

For Vas J. Morgan and Michael Braun’s “Hockey Halloween Bash,” Hayek chose to embody Piña, the character Cruz plays in The Invite.
Photographers captured Hayek at the party, and her makeup artist, Pablo Maciasr, also posted images of the look to Instagram on Sunday.

At 60, Hayek underwent a dramatic makeover, swapping her trademark dark locks for a striking blond bob with bangs, styled by Eduardo Ponce.
She completed the ensemble with a black silk button-down, jeans and a black leather jacket, channeling the aesthetic from the A24 film, which also features Olivia Wilde, Seth Rogen and Ed Norton.
Cruz hasn’t publicly reacted to Hayek’s tribute to their three-decade friendship, but the Frida star pulled off the costume perfectly.
Their bond runs deep: Cruz recently revealed that she once handled Hayek’s makeup for a movie premiere after Hayek’s glam team canceled—at a time when her power had also gone out.
Surprisingly, the actresses have only appeared together on screen once, in the 2006 film Bandidas.
Maybe next Halloween, the Chanel ambassador will pay homage by dressing up as Hayek.
