The island of Mauritius is currently pulsating with the excitement of the 18th Constance Culinary Festival. This highly-regarded event is a treasure trove for lovers of fine dining and culinary exploration, deserving of greater public attention.

With its tasteful culinary creations, extraordinary dinners prepared by Michelin-starred chefs, all set against a breathtaking backdrop, the Constance Culinary Festival epitomizes the intersection of exquisite taste and paradise. Currently in its 18th iteration, this gastronomic event is unfolding in the picturesque setting of Mauritius until March 29, 2025. With feet in the sand and the aroma of spices in the air, Le Journal des Femmes attended the festival to experience it firsthand. Here’s what’s happening.

Constance Culinary Festival: A Journey Through Gastronomy

As with every year, the Constance Belle Mare Plage and Constance Prince Maurice hotels host this new edition of the festival, providing a deep dive into the world of high-end gastronomy. The hotel group, which also operates in the Seychelles, the Maldives, and Madagascar, launched this culinary event back in 2006.

Pierre Hermé, Régis Marcon, Pierre Sang, Emmanuel Renaut, Patrick Bertron… Once again, this year’s festival promises excellence… and it delivers! These are just a few of the culinary greats who have traveled to Mauritius to participate in the event. The agenda includes culinary competitions, gastronomic dinners, interactive experiences, and master classes to explore flavors and creativity.

Education at the Heart of the Event

Bringing renowned chefs to its hotels to foster encounters and sharing embodies the spirit of the festival. Competitions are held in pairs: a chef from the Constance hotels collaborates with a visiting chef from around the world. “The culinary level in Mauritius improves each year, and we are fortunate to advance alongside experts,” shares Emmanuel Fortuno, chef at Constance Belle Mare, who recently competed in the Bocuse d’Or 2025 in Lyon. This reciprocal exchange also allows visiting chefs to discover new techniques and flavors inspired by local products, fueling everyone’s creativity, pushing standards ever higher, and ultimately delighting the hotel group’s clients.

This year, the festival is organizing five competitions: the Deutz Trophy, the Régis Marcon Trophy, the Pierre Hermé Trophy, a contest centered around gourmet coffee, and a competition dedicated to table arts. The event is highlighted by nine exceptional dinners and master classes led by renowned chefs. Popular pastry blogger Mercotte is also participating, presenting a culinary demonstration.

The festival will conclude on Saturday, March 29, with an awards ceremony where the winners of this week’s competitions will be announced. You can immerse yourself in the Mauritian event atmosphere by checking out photos of the dishes offered during the contests, along with a detailed program.

Here, we wish all participants good luck. And in the meantime, we are feasting our eyes… and our taste buds!
