Melanie Meriney Releases ‘Silent Night’

The wondeful Melanie Meriney has released a new Christmas track – her rendition of the classic carol ‘Silent Night’. It’s always a nice surprise when an artist drops a track that you weren’t expecting and it’s even better when the track is this good – Melanie doing a fantastic of covering the song, with a moving and powerful performance.

The song, originally written in German and titled ‘Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht’ was first performed back in 1818, at the St Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a village in what is now Austria. The song has been translated into 140 languages in the two centuries since.

Silent Night Lyrics

Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!

Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love’s pure light;
Radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
