Lady A Release Statement Single “Like A Lady”

The new single from Lady A, “Like A Lady”, is such a fun, female empowerment track celebrating the confidence of a woman at her best and naturally is one we are loving here at Belles and Gals! Its release last Friday via BMLG Records, just after International Women Day of course, came hot on the heels of their 11th career No 1 “Champagne Night”… and further congratulations are in order too, with the band recently being invited to become members of the Grand Ole Opry!

The Dan Huff produced track with its retro vibe is also the first insight into what we can expect from the band’s next ( eighth) studio album… as the group explain “We’ve written a lot of songs together over the last year that we can’t wait to share with you but when Hillary sent us this one, we knew right away we wanted to lead with it. This song reminds us of the unparalleled energy of the live show – something we miss every single day and can’t wait to do again as soon as we can! We hope this song makes you want to get up, let loose and dance!“. Too right it does!!!

Of course the ” Hillary” in question is the group’s Hillary Scott, who co-wrote “Like A Lady” with Dave Barnes, Michelle Buzz, Martin Johnson and Brandon Scott, and she also takes lead vocals on the track, something she does with appropriate joyful abandon. “I feel my most confident when I’m not trying too hard” she explains. “I love getting glammed up and all the fancy clothes, but when I feel the most ‘me’ it’s a lot more laid back – and I think that’s a lot of us. You are your most authentic self in blue jeans with a tequila drink, ya know? As we were writing it, I was like ‘ It’s always been my dream to do a song that combines the things I love about Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5’ and Shania Twain’s ‘ Man! I Feel Like A Woman!’ – two of the most strong. powerful female songs ever. So it was like ‘ How can we do our version of that?’ “.

Its powerful statement is one that’s important to all the group members, and as Hillary goes on to say “It’s incredible that Charles and Dave, in all their masculinity, are willing to sing right alongside me on this song… it’s super important for strong, great men to stand beside women and propel them forward“.
“This song has such a great feel to it” band member Charles Kelley adds. ” One of the coolest parts of being a co-ed band is being able to share those different perspectives, so that’s just part of what we get to do”. And Dave Haywood adds ” We are some of the biggest champions for ‘Like A Lady’ and we’re honoured to stand alongside Hillary. We’ve had a front row seat to her strength over the years and we love linking arms with her on this song”

But the final word on the track comes from Hillary once more, who says “I hope it makes fans feel confident too, it brings them joy and just gets people excited about seeing live music again“. I think that is something we are all looking forwards to, Hillary!
