Introducing UK Singer-Songwriter Katy for Kings

Hailing from Chelmsford, Essex, 20 year old Katy first picked up a guitar aged 14 and it wasn’t long before she not only fell in love with playing music but also began writing songs herself, influenced by artists including John Mayer, Kacey Musgraves and Harry Styles. Gigging in local pubs before she was even old enough to drink there she has since released her four track debut EP “Novelty” and has been independently building a growing reputation for her emotive voice as well as her writing abilities. Those traits have resulted in a growing fanbase for this rising artist helped by support from BBC Introducing, a songwriting challenge by social media sensation Emily Canham and her home-filmed covers of songs by Madison Beer and Billie Eilish

Her latest single “City” and accompanying lyric video has just been released, a song Katy for Kings co-wrote acoustically with solo artist/5 Seconds of Summer co-writer Chris Bourne and which was developed alongside producer John Fields who has worked with artists including Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and P!nk. It’s a song which really demonstrates the depth of her voice and her storytelling lyrics, tackling an experience that many young people go through while also being more universally relatable.  As she explains ” ‘City’ was written just after I turned 18. It’s a song about heartbreak, but I also wanted to tor to capture how overwhelming it can be to throw yourself into new experiences and process new emotions. It’s a mixture of infatuation and nostalgia with a side of uncertainty“.
We will definitely be watching out for any more news from this exciting UK artist!
