Ingrid Andress Goes On An Emotional Journey With Her Latest Single “Good Person” (Out Now)

Last Friday saw singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress entering the next chapter of her career following her record – breaking debut album, 2020’s “Lady Like” which spawned 3 Grammy-nominations including Best Country Album and last August’s fan favourite country-pop ballad “Wishful Drinking” (feat. Sam Hunt) .

Good Person” is the first track from her forthcoming sophomore album, and as well as co-writing the reflective, confessional song with Steph Jones and Sam Ellis, Ingrid is co-producer alongside Canadian native Ellis who also worked with her on “Lady Like“. And what a phenomenal introduction to the new project this single is, such a thought provoking and also very relatable song which was apparently written as Ingrid was emerging from a period of self-growth and which sees her exploring how to define “goodness” in ourselves and others. It really is an emotional journey, one I got drawn into right from the start. The dreamy, etherial song is addressed to a seemingly saintly person… I’m sure we all know someone like that, but is that the full story? Questions she ponders include “Do you just wake up with a smile on your face?…” Does the high road get lonely? Do you ever pull off?” and the one which really made me smile, “Do you ever lose it when somebody steals that one last parking spot?” . But at the same time the song examines the complexities and contradictions within her own behaviour …ultimately it’s about the inner battle of wanting to be a good person while acknowledging we are all work in progress.
Ingrid explains, “I wrote ‘Good Person’ when I realised that i was starting to question a lot of things. What makes somebody good and what does that look like, and in a world of being so judgemental of other people, what makes you better than them?

The track has stunning accompanying video, directed by Olivia Bee, and to quote Ingrid again “I really wanted to mesh these worlds of light and dark and highlight the parallels between the two“.

As yet there’s no release date or any more details in regards to the album, but we’ll obviously keep you updated with any news!
In the mean time, Ingrid is set to play Stagecoach Country Music Festival in California next week before joining Keith Urban for his 52-date North American “The Speed of Now World Tour” which kicks off in Florida mid June.
