Danielle Bradbery Releases Her Most Vulnerable Song To Date: “Monster”

It was Harlan Howard who coined the phrase “Three Chords and the Truth” in the 1950’s to describe country music, and although I can’t comment on the chord count on Danielle Bradbery’s new single it definitely contains lot of truth. “Monster” sees the Texan native detailing her personal struggles with anxiety, but its hard hitting lyrics could apply to any number of inner battles so many of us face on a daily basis. Battles we all too often feel we need hide from those around us.

As she explains “This song means a lot to me. Writing a song like ‘ Monster ‘ was a form of therapy and I hope it’s the same experience for my fans. We all deal with a monster in our lives and this song is a reminder that no matter what that struggle may be for you, you’re not alone“.
Having already established herself as a powerhouse vocalist,  Danielle really pours her heart out and shows her more emotional, vulnerable side in the song which she penned alongside Lauren LaRue and Sam De Jong. Produced by Nathan Chapman and Derek Wells, it’s given an appropriately haunting and atmospheric feel, building dramatically from a simple piano and string accompaniment.

The inspiration for the song came to Danielle when she was on a writing trip in LA last year, and she says while she was there “the songs I was trying to create, weren’t aligning with where my mind and heart were at”. She continues ” On the last morning, I was feeling anxious and knew I needed to write about it. I started talking about living with anxiety, something I’ve struggled with for a while – how the weight of it can feel like a monster that doesn’t leave you alone, causing you to be someone you’re not and at times, can almost be crippling to your body.

The song follows on from Danielle’s fiery new single “A Special Place” which has amassed over 13M streams for the Big Machine Records artist and has served as inspiration for her first ever headline tour. Hot on the heels of a nine-date run featuring multiple sold out dates, Danielle brings her “A Special Place Tour” to Nashville at The Basement East on 18th May.
