Blair Underwood prefers nonfiction.
“I’ve always leaned towards documentaries,” shared the actor from “Doc,” who recently penned a book titled “A Soldier’s Wife: My Mother, The Marvelous Mrs. Marilyn A. Underwood.” He added, “As an actor, my job is to inhabit fictional worlds, but on my own time, I gravitate towards true stories about real events and diverse cultures.”
Underwood mentioned that maintaining “balance” is his key to staying centered.
The star of “Don’t Ever Wonder” noted that his mother always encouraged him to read, although he didn’t enjoy reading as a child. Initially, he felt that reading was a chore rather than a pleasure.
However, Underwood’s perspective changed when he realized that reading allowed him to “completely immerse myself in other experiences and far-off realities. Suddenly, it became a form of escape.”

“Jonathan Livingston Seagull” by Richard Bach
“I admire Jonathan for his determination to pursue a deeper understanding of himself, even if it means being ostracized.
