Despite the backlash, Olivia Halpin, the hairstylist behind the look, proudly shared images of Batula’s hairstyle on social media the night before the second episode of the reunion’s three-part series.
“The bun you love to hate,” she posted, acknowledging the detractors while giving a shoutout to makeup artist Laura Mele and stylists Danielle O’Connell and Alix Gropper, who also shared Batula’s look on their platforms.
While Halpin’s styling peers chose to disable comments on their posts, she left hers active and received plenty of feedback.
Fans React Strongly
Supportive friends praised the hairstyle, but Bravo enthusiasts were less favorable in their comments.
“It’s giving World Cup goalie 2026,” one viewer commented, and another remarked, “It’s giving I am running to the bathroom to puke and gotta get the hair out of the way.” A third added sarcastically, “I feel like this was your subtle way of saying you’re #teamciara .”
When faced with a barrage of tomato emojis from a critic, Halpin humorously replied, “tomato tomahto.”
“I like it. Sue me,” a supporter stated, prompting Halpin to answer, “god forbid a girl wears a casual effortless lewk .”
“We aimed for a quintessentially Amanda style—effortless, cool, chic,” Halpin explained in an interview with Bustle.
She emphasized that the pony-bun was chosen because it complemented Batula’s ensemble, required minimal adjustments, framed her face well, and highlighted the makeup work by Laura Mele.
Regarding the mixed reactions, Halpin found the extensive discussion stimulating. “Beauty is subjective, and everyone has their own viewpoint, which adds to the excitement of fashion and beauty,” she stated. She considered the hairstyle a success as it perfectly encapsulated Amanda’s personality.
Challenging Reunion for Batula
The reunion episodes have been especially tough on the swimsuit designer, facing scrutiny from former best friend Ciara Miller and estranged husband Kyle Cooke, among others, about her new relationship with Wilson, Miller’s ex.
