Amanda Batula never holds back.
From navigating conflicts with her husband Kyle Cooke, to contemplating motherhood, to her battles with depression, the “Summer House” celebrity has consistently been transparent about her life’s challenges.
Now at 33, the creator behind Amanda Batula Swim has disclosed to Page Six Style that sharing her skin issues was a particularly big hurdle for her.
“Even though I’ve been very open about my mental struggles, discussing my acne was terrifying,” Batula admits. “Social media platforms are so perfected that between the makeup and filters, seeing real skin seems rare. It made me feel very alone in my skin issues.”
However, with her skin condition improving significantly under her new care routine, Batula feels ready to divulge her skincare strategies.
“Honestly, I only felt comfortable discussing it once my skin began to clear up. It’s daunting when you’re in the midst of it all, feeling like there’s no end. But once improvements started, I felt better about sharing my journey—including photos,” she explains.
“Being so open about my personal life and mental health, it seemed irrational to keep hiding a problem that affects so many,” she adds.
Collaborating with Face Reality, Batula helped curate a selection of products that have significantly helped her skin, including her favorite, the 5% L-Mandelic Serum, accessible through the brand’s network of skincare professionals.
“I genuinely look forward to applying it every morning,” says Batula. “I’m also a big fan of the HydraRemedy Gel Serum. It leaves my skin glowing and feels wonderfully hydrating beneath my moisturizer.”

While filming “Summer House” with noticeable acne, Batula recalls, “it was constant makeup—even in scenes where I was supposed to be sleeping.”
“I would wake up and quickly apply concealer to hide my acne, but tried to make it seem like I had just gotten out of bed,” she shares.
She also found psychological relief in using pimple patches and spot treatments.
“Using Face Reality’s InvisiClear Hydrocolloid Spot Patches, even though they drew more attention, gave me a sense of concealing my acne,” explains Batula. She continues to use these whenever she experiences flare-ups.
“If you’re self-conscious about a breakout, just pop on a pimple patch. I have no hesitation wearing them out and about. They also keep me from picking at my face, while actively healing the breakout,” she advises.

Fortunately for Batula, her acne peaked during an off-season of “Summer House,” allowing her time to establish a successful skincare routine before returning on camera.
And as anyone dealing with acne understands, it’s a long-term battle.
“Although there’s been a significant improvement, I still get the occasional breakout. I just remind myself that it will clear up and it won’t last forever,” Batula concludes.
