He thought he was rescuing a sheep—but it turned out to be something else
This bizarre French customer habit is driving shop owners crazy
At this bistro, you can enjoy a double serving of homemade fries and meat for under $20! We’re letting you in on this great spot.
Who hasn’t dreamed of getting a second plate of fries for free at a restaurant? That’s exactly what this traditional bistro offers. There’s no à la carte menu here, but rather a fixed price option—$19.90 for lunch and $27.50 for dinner—that includes a green salad with a zesty vinaigrette, followed by a choice of sirloin steak or a label rouge chicken fillet served with homemade fries. All of this is generously topped with a secret green sauce that has diners hooked: “It’s rich, creamy, and utterly addictive,” describes influencer Charlotte Château, known as @pariswithcharlotte on Instagram. And when you finish your meal, “They serve you a second helping!“, she shares. A second round of fries, meat, and sauce. Yes, it’s real, and it’s happening here!
This bistro takes inspiration from a well-known Parisian establishment: Le Relais de Venise, a historic spot that’s a favorite (perhaps too popular?) among steak-frites lovers. However, there are two significant differences. In this newly opened venue in 2024, diners can choose between beef or chicken for their meat, and importantly, it’s not only Parisians who can enjoy it. Indeed, there are three locations in total—two in Paris at Réaumur, Paris 2nd and another at Bastille, Paris 4th, and a third in Reims at Place d’Erlon. This setup helps to somewhat ease the lines during peak hours.
The food and the service both seem to hit the mark: “The service is incredibly fast and absolutely flawless“, notes influencer Sarah Piot, known as @le_couteau on Instagram, “The sirloin was very tender and the homemade fries were crispy“, reports a visiting customer. Is it as good as at Le Relais de Venise? Perhaps not as authentic, the customer adds, but for a meal at this price and to avoid waiting in line during lunch break, it’s a sacrifice worth making!
