Christina Fulton felt compelled to pursue legal action against Nicolas Cage and their son, Weston Cage, after she claimed that Weston assaulted her.

While approaching a Los Angeles courthouse, Fulton expressed to TMZ, “As a mother, my heart has been breaking for a long time. I’ve been handling this on my own, feeling abandoned or even obstructed. I blame many, particularly the LAPD,” she said, alleging that the police had ignored her pleas for help, leaving her “bleeding on the ground.”

“I am standing here once again as a mother. I love my son—it’s tough love. We are confronting a mental health crisis epidemic, and I am here to show support. I want to let other parents and mothers know that I am here for them, and for my son,” she added.

Fulton then mentioned that Nicolas Cage had allegedly “blocked” her, prompting her to sue him because he is Weston’s father and “could have done much more.”

She also remarked that she hasn’t spoken again to Weston, aged 34, as they are “in court,” alleging that he has not received any treatment for his supposed mental health issues.

In May 2024, it was reported that Weston was suspected of assaulting Fulton, who was observed with a black eye and multiple bruises on her face.

According to sources speaking to TMZ at the time, he was identified as a suspect in a battery report following an incident at Fulton’s residence in Los Angeles on April 28, 2024.

Fulton had apparently invited Weston over after being requested to assist him through an “emotional moment,” which escalated into a verbal altercation and subsequently became physical. Emergency services were called to the scene, but Fulton wasn’t transported to a hospital for her injuries.

Page Six later verified in July that the mixed martial artist was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly attacked his mother. He was subsequently released on a $150,000 bond.

Fulton shared with People, “On that Sunday, April 28, several of Weston’s close friends contacted me for help as they were witnessing him in a mental health crisis. When I arrived, I was greeted by my son who was clearly suffering a mental health breakdown, leading to a dreadful ordeal,” she explained. “I have always been supportive of my son’s mental health challenges. I am doing everything possible to ensure he gets ongoing support.”

She further claimed that he was in “a manic rage,” and “within minutes, I was violently attacked, resulting in severe injuries.”

Authorities also confirmed to the outlet that Weston “punched two victims multiple times, resulting in injuries,” although the identity of the second victim remains undisclosed.

On June 26, the district attorney charged Weston with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and an arrest warrant was issued later.

In July 2024, Fulton and her son appeared in court, where Weston pleaded not guilty and argued that his mother was the one who needed mental health assistance.

Fulton then escalated her legal battle against her son by also suing Nicolas Cage for negligence, negligent supervision, and negligent undertaking.

In her lawsuit, she accused Nicolas of neglecting to prevent Weston from engaging in violent behavior and harming others. She wrote, “Weston has a long and documented history of mental and psychological disorders, violent assault, and battery, and has harmed numerous people.”

She also alleged that the famed actor, aged 61, supported Weston’s allegedly “reckless” lifestyle and failed to provide him with “necessary psychiatric” care.

Moreover, she claimed that the “Wicker Man” star consumed alcohol with Weston “despite knowing his history with substance abuse” and had consistently bailed him out of jail.

“Nicolas was or should have been aware that Weston posed a significant and immediate danger to others, including myself, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability,” Fulton stated.

In response, Nicolas Cage’s attorney dismissed Fulton’s claims as “absurd and frivolous” in a statement to Page Six.

“Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old adult,” the statement continued. “Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s actions in any way and is not responsible for Weston’s alleged assault on his mother.”

Furthermore, Weston’s attorney, Michael A. Goldstein, described Fulton’s lawsuit as “merely a pursuit of money and attention.”

Fulton is also suing Weston for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

She maintained that the altercation has “derailed” her life, necessitating “extensive medical care, surgeries, and treatments” for a brain concussion, multiple contusions, a disfiguring eye injury, dental damage, PTSD, and psychological harm.
