The former NFL star, now a sports broadcaster, was legally challenged in Nevada this past Sunday. The suit accuses him of raping a woman, referred to only as Jane Doe, several times. Sharpe, however, refuted these accusations on Monday.
According to court papers reviewed by Page Six, the plaintiff asserts that Sharpe, aged 56, committed multiple sexual assaults towards the end of 2024 and early 2025.
The complaint describes a tumultuous and abusive relationship spanning several years with the television personality.
Legal documents reveal that Sharpe first met Doe at a Los Angeles gym in 2023. At the time, Doe was 20 and Sharpe was in his mid-50s. During their initial interaction, Sharpe allegedly promised to pay for cosmetic breast surgery if she won a weight-loss challenge he proposed.
Sharpe is said to have then aggressively pursued Doe, incessantly calling and texting her and insisting she visit his Beverly Glen home.
The relationship that ensued was initially consensual, but Doe described it as dominated by Sharpe’s controlling and verbally abusive behavior.
“He exerted total control over her schedule and her body, demanding her presence in his home whenever he wished,” attorney Tony Buzbee stated in the court filings.
The situation reportedly escalated during a heated argument in Sharpe’s presence, with a visible firearm adding to the tension.
The court documents further detail a frightening incident: “The plaintiff attempted to share her location with friends via her iPhone — just in case. Sharpe noticed, seized her by the neck, and threatened, ‘If you ever do that again, I will f–king kill you.’”
Doe began distancing herself from Sharpe after she heard him engaging in sexual activity during a live broadcast on Instagram in September. She alleges that her efforts to end the relationship resulted in Sharpe raping her.
She claims the first assault occurred in October when he forced himself on her despite her tears and protests. A second incident allegedly took place in January, under the pretense of Sharpe giving her a Christmas present, where he raped her once more.
Sharpe’s legal representative, Lanny J. Davis, issued a statement to Page Six on Monday, vehemently denying the allegations: “Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct – especially the egregious accusation of ‘rape’ — and rejects what he views as a blatant attempt at extortion. He is committed to the truth and is ready to vigorously contest these baseless accusations in court. He anticipates being cleared of all charges through the legal process, relying on the facts and law.”
Doe is seeking $50 million from the Hall of Fame tight end, who has recently been in the news for negotiating a podcast contract potentially worth over $100 million.
“Representing Jane Doe is a tremendous honor,” Buzbee commented to Page Six. “It requires immense bravery to challenge those endowed with influence, celebrity, and wealth. I am eager to advance this case in court.”
