This past weekend in Chicago, Beyoncé brought back her famous “Crazy In Love” look during her “Cowboy Carter” tour, dazzling the crowd with a rhinestone-studded version of the original ensemble.
In the memorable 2003 music video, a 21-year-old Beyoncé owned the screen in a glittery Prada tank top, low-slung J Brand denim shorts, and striking red Stuart Weitzman heels.
For her recent performance, styled by Shiona Turini, Beyoncé opted for an even more glamorous version of this outfit. Now 43, she sparkled in a custom white tank top lavishly decorated with royal blue crystals by Sami Miro, paired with matching short denim shorts.
Continuing the denim theme, she rocked the stage in bespoke slouchy knee-high boots by Loewe. Her look was completed with spectacular diamond-encrusted buckle-shaped earrings by David Koma, priced at $1,200.
While the iconic video featured Beyoncé with straight hair, she chose to wear long, voluminous curls for her performance on Saturday night.
Ty Hunter, the stylist for the early 2000s video, reminisced about the iconic outfit in a 2023 Vogue interview. “The tank actually had rhinestones, which not many people realize,” he commented. “It was the last item I picked up from the showroom.”
The choice of a white top and denim shorts was intentional. “We wanted a look that young fans could easily replicate,” Hunter explained. “Our previous styles were all about glamour, so we aimed to simplify this one to make it accessible. This was something important to Beyoncé.”
The “Cowboy Carter” tour, which began in Los Angeles last month, has been a showcase of incredible designer outfits. Beyoncé has worn custom designs from luxury brands like Mugler, Burberry, and Dolce & Gabbana, among others.
Beyoncé’s influence also extends to her family, with her 13-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, appearing on stage in outfits that echo her mother’s past styles.
