At a recent event in Las Vegas, Catsimatidis was recognized with the Lowry Mays Excellence in Broadcasting Award. The honor was presented during the Broadcasters Foundation of America’s annual breakfast this past Wednesday.
Sources close to the matter reveal that Catsimatidis is actively planning a new direction for his media property, 77 WABC, by aiming to establish a presence on the global stage.
It is understood that the billionaire, who also owns a major grocery chain, intends to broaden the radio station’s broadcast coverage to include major global cities such as London, Paris, and Rome, extending its reach well beyond the borders of the United States.

The event also celebrated other notable figures in broadcasting. Among them was Deborah Norville, former anchor of “Inside Edition,” and Chad Matthews, president of ABC Owned Television Stations, both of whom received accolades for their contributions to the industry.
