On Tuesday, LSU graduate Livvy Dunne was revealed as one of the four cover stars for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2025, appearing on the front in a small zebra-striped bikini.
Captured by photographer Ben Watts in Bermuda, the 22-year-old gymnast flaunted her toned physique in the serene waters.
“This bikini… it was perfect. I felt amazing wearing it. This is the best day of my life. It’s so thrilling,” Dunne exclaimed upon seeing her cover photo.
“It feels like I’m embracing a new version of myself. This is the most extraordinary thing to ever happen to me. I hope the cover image grabs the audience’s attention, and then they’re hooked by the incredible story that follows,” she continued. “I’m honored to be a Sports Illustrated model… I hope my story inspires other athletes to persevere and stand up for what they believe in.”
Other cover stars for the 2025 issue include Salma Hayek, Olympian Jordan Chiles, and model Lauren Chan.
Earlier this year, Dunne was announced as a model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, with the publication sharing photos of her in two different animal-print swimsuits.
She posed in a leopard print bikini with leather and hip buckles, and a zebra-striped one-piece swimsuit that was cut high on the legs, complemented by a backward blue hat.
Although this marks her first cover for the renowned magazine, Dunne is no stranger to its pages, having previously worked with Watts in Puerto Rico and Portugal in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
“Sports Illustrated Swimsuit is more than just about swimsuits and beautiful images,” said MJ Day, editor-in-chief of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, in a press release. “It’s a platform for capturing significant cultural moments, celebrating influential figures, and presenting beauty on a global scale.”
Day highlighted that Dunne, the top-earning female NCAA athlete, “has revolutionized the field for athletes everywhere by being among the first to capitalize on name, image, and likeness deals, creating a brand that is both lucrative and genuinely her own.”
“With my Sports Illustrated photos, I want people to see that it’s possible to excel in multiple arenas — demonstrating that you can be a strong, independent woman in the process,” Dunne stated regarding her 2023 debut in the magazine. “You can be an athlete, a student, and a model all at once.”
The 2025 issue, available on newsstands this week, also features numerous other athletes like WNBA’s Cameron Brink, track star Gabby Thomas, gymnast Suni Lee, Olympian Ilona Maher, and celebrities including Alix Earle and Brooks Nader, among a total of 34 models.
