Love Island USA’s Huda Mustafa Speaks Out: ‘I Kept It Real’ After Dramatic Exit

Huda Mustafa, a 24-year-old fitness expert, quickly became a standout contestant in Season 7 of Love Island USA after pairing up with fellow original Islander Jeremiah Brown soon after her arrival in June. This early connection allowed American viewers to stir up the dynamics with their first vote. Following a romantic encounter with Brown, Mustafa found herself vulnerable when he was paired with newcomer Iris Kendall.

In a recent Zoom interview with Decider, Mustafa shared insights into her emotional responses in the villa, citing lack of proper nutrition and exercise as contributing factors. The single mom, who considers herself easy-going outside the show, pointed out that many behind-the-scenes aspects weren’t broadcasted, which might have provided more context to her behavior.

“There are countless people who lose their cool in private and nobody bats an eye,” Mustafa remarked. “But the moment it happens on national TV, everyone has something to say. At least I was genuine about it.”

Although her relationship with Brown did not last, ending when he was sent home in Episode 18, she later connected with Chris Seeley post-Casa Amor. This new relationship, however, also concluded during the finale, right as they secured third place, in what Mustafa humorously recalled as a bizarrely timed serenade amid their breakup.

Mustafa also discussed the joys of reuniting with her daughter, having her famous “mamacita” moment mimicked by celebrities, and her reflections on her time with Brown. The full conversation can be read below.

DECIDER: How was reuniting with your daughter after being away?

HUDA MUSTAFA: It was incredibly emotional. I cried the moment I saw her sleeping through the video call. It reassured me how much we missed each other and how strong our bond is. She’s my world, my closest friend.

It sounds like you’re eager to return home to her.

Absolutely! She was traveling, so I extended my stay in LA to welcome her back properly and celebrate her birthday together.

Your singing talent has become quite popular on TikTok. Why didn’t we see more of this on the show?

I sang constantly in the villa. It was a regular part of my day, whether I was in the bathroom or dressing room. We even joked about forming a girl group. It was really a highlight for me, being so passionate about the arts.

Reflecting on your early days with Jeremiah, do you wish things had gone differently?

Looking back, I wish we had developed our personal connection more before getting physical. I sensed him pulling away, which was tough given my tendency to seek closer connections when I feel someone distancing. It was a complex dynamic that definitely influenced my actions.

The viral moment where you told Nic about being a mom took the internet by storm. What was your reaction to seeing celebrities recreate it?

It was surreal! I never anticipated that conversation would catch on like it did. It’s been flattering and a bit overwhelming to see people I admire using my voice in their posts.

Can you share what happened during your breakup with Chris when the singer appeared?

It was an absurdly funny moment. I was mid-breakup, emotional, and then suddenly there’s a singer performing ‘Moon River.’ It was so unexpected it brought a moment of levity to a tough situation.

You’ve definitely made a significant impact this season.

I’ve heard as much from the fans. It’s been an intense journey, but I’ve tried to remain true to myself throughout the experience.
