When Will One Piece Season 2 Be Released ?
Netflix officially confirmed a second season for One Piece in September 2023, just two weeks after the first season’s premiere. This came as no surprise, given the positive reception from both die-hard fans and newcomers alike. However, the streaming giant hasn’t shared a specific release date for Season 2 yet. With filming now completed as of February 4, 2025, we can reasonably expect a release sometime in late 2025—likely in the fall or during the holiday season.
It’s worth mentioning that the budget for the live-action adaptation is nothing short of spectacular. Each episode of the first season came with a hefty price tag of $18 million, bringing the total budget for the season to $144 million. For perspective, that’s even more than Game of Thrones.

How Many Episodes Will Season 2 Have ?
Just like the first season, One Piece Season 2 will consist of 8 episodes. Netflix has maintained a pattern of releasing entire seasons at once, but in recent years, they’ve been dividing their major series into multiple parts, often releasing episodes in separate batches. While this strategy was seen with shows like Emily in Paris and Bridgerton, it’s still uncertain whether One Piece will follow suit.
Who Are the Cast and Characters for Season 2 ?

The cast of One Piece has been widely praised for their portrayals of iconic characters, and for the second season, many fan-favorites are returning. Here’s who we’ll see back in action:
- Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy
- Emily Rudd as Nami
- Mackenyu Arata as Zoro
- Jacob Gibson as Usopp
- Taz Skylar as Sanji
- Morgan Davies as Kobby
- Jeff Ward as Buggy
But that’s not all—new faces are joining the crew for the second season, and they’ll be playing key figures, especially from the criminal organization Baroque Works and the doctors from Drum Island. Here are some of the new additions:
- David Dastmalchian (known for Oppenheimer and The Dark Knight) as Mr.3 (Galdino)
- Camrus Johnson (from Batwoman) as Mr.5 (Gem)
- Daniel Lasker (from Raised by Wolves) as Mr.9
- Jazzara Jaslyn (from Lioness) as Miss Valentine
- Katey Sagal (famous for Sons of Anarchy and Futurama) as Dr. Kureha, the eccentric and powerful doctor
- Mark Harelik (known for Jurassic Park 3 and Preacher) as Dr. Hiriluk, the questionable mentor of Chopper
Other exciting additions include:
- Lera Abova, a Russian actress, will portray the iconic Nico Robin
- Joe Manganiello (from Justice League) will step into the role of Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea
- Charithra Chandran (from Bridgerton) as Vivi (Miss Wednesday)
- Rigo Sanchez (from Outer Banks) as Luffy’s father, Monkey D. Dragon
- Sophia Anne Caruso, a Broadway star, will join as Miss GoldenWeek
What Arcs Will Be Adapted in Season 2 ?
According to an August 2024 letter from One Piece creator Eiichirō Oda, Season 2 will focus on several key storylines, including Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island. These arcs are part of the Baroque Works storyline, where Luffy and his crew face off against a criminal organization.

Fans had hoped to see the beloved Alabasta arc, but that’s likely to be saved for Season 3, which has yet to be confirmed. However, one major new development will be the return of Smoker, the Marine officer introduced at the end of Season 1, played by Callum Kerr. Smoker will play a significant role in the upcoming episodes as he attempts to capture Luffy.
Easter Eggs in Season 2 of One Piece
From the very first episode, hints about the future were subtly dropped for observant viewers. The Baroque Works organization was referenced early on, with Zoro being approached by Mr.7, a member of the group. In keeping with the manga, Zoro ends up defeating Mr.7. Fans even speculated that the first episode featured a secret teaser for Crocodile, hinting that the character might have appeared under a different guise, even though the role will ultimately be filled by Joe Manganiello.
At the close of Season 1, Luffy’s determination to venture into the Grand Line was clear. As the crew heads toward Drum Island, they’ll likely encounter Chopper, the reindeer doctor who will eventually join the team.

Where to Watch One Piece?
For fans in France and around the world, the live-action series is available for streaming in its entirety on Netflix, which will also be the platform for Season 2’s release in 2025.
For those interested in the original anime, it’s a bit more scattered. While some episodes from the ongoing Egghead arc are available on Netflix, you can also catch Seasons 1 through 15 on platforms like Prime Video, ADN, and Crunchyroll.
With so many exciting developments on the horizon, One Piece fans have plenty to look forward to in Season 2. Between new characters, familiar faces, and captivating story arcs, the adventure is far from over.
