“Mom was underweight and had ticks, fleas, and worms, which we treated her for immediately,” Ferguson explained. “She was scared, but soon became relaxed and realized she was in a safe space.”

The transformation in the mama dog was remarkable. With proper care and nourishment, she gained weight and began to look much healthier. While she still exhibited some nervousness around new people, her trust grew as she realized the shelter was a safe haven. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Kloof and Highway SPCA team, this entire family is now on the path to recovery and will soon be available for adoption. “The whole family will be available for adoption soon, and their friends at the shelter can’t wait to find them all the perfect homes,” Ferguson added with a hopeful smile.
