In a recent interview, the star of “Paradise” mentioned that he has been in touch with both Moore and Ventimiglia. “I’ve spoken to both Milo and Mandy. It’s a tough situation,” Brown, aged 48, revealed to “Extra” on Thursday. “They are right in the thick of things, taking it one day at a time.”
The Impact of the LA Wildfires
The wildfires, which started on January 7 in Pacific Palisades, spread rapidly across Los Angeles, devastating entire neighborhoods.
Among the hundreds of thousands forced to evacuate were Moore and Ventimiglia, who famously portrayed the married couple Jack and Rebecca Pearson on the NBC series. At the time, Moore, a 40-year-old actress known for “A Walk to Remember” and mother of three young children with husband Taylor Goldsmith, expressed her prayers and gratitude towards the first responders on social media.
Moore later informed her followers that while the primary structure of her home was undamaged by the Eaton Fire, her in-laws’ residence was completely destroyed.
Milo Ventimiglia’s Personal Loss
Conversely, Ventimiglia faced the heartbreaking loss of his home in Malibu, California. He watched his house burn down through a security camera feed. In a tearful interview with CBS News on January 9, the 47-year-old “Gilmore Girls” veteran walked through his charred property, which he described as “toast,” after he and his pregnant wife, Jarah Mariano, had to evacuate.
“It’s heartbreaking to think of all the memories and different parts of the house, and then seeing your neighbors’ homes destroyed as well,” he shared during the interview.
Reflecting on the moment he saw his home engulfed in flames through the cameras, Ventimiglia said, “There’s this shock where you realize, ‘This is real, this is happening.’ Eventually, we just turned off the camera. What’s the point in watching anymore? We had to come to terms with the loss.”
The actor shared that they tried to save as many possessions as possible while evacuating, but still lost many valuable items, including their baby’s crib.
Art Imitates Life
Ventimiglia also drew a poignant comparison between his real-life experience and a tragic event on “This Is Us,” where his character dies after their home catches fire from a pressure cooker explosion. “The irony of life imitating art is not lost on me,” he commented following the personal tragedy.
Ventimiglia and Mariano, who quietly wed in 2023, are expecting their first child together.
