For those who can’t get enough of award ceremonies following the Oscars, Snap Inc. has launched its own event dubbed The Snappys. This new celebration is designed to honor the achievements of content creators across its platform.

The premiere of this event took place at Snap’s headquarters in Santa Monica on a recent Tuesday evening. The affair attracted a large crowd of influencers who walked the yellow carpet, including notable figures like JoJo Siwa, Chloe Veitch, Candiace Dillard Bassett, and Francesca Farago.
The evening was hosted by comedian and Snapchat celebrity Matt Friend, who humorously commented on the proliferation of niche award shows by joking, “What’s next, the Venmo Awards?”
A Night of Celebrated Snap Stars
The awards saw David Dobrik, who boasts a following of 70 million, taking home the creator of the year award. In another highlight of the evening, DJ Khaled, aged 50, received a lifetime achievement award, which he accepted through a video message. Snap’s CEO Evan Spiegel and actor John Stamos also made virtual appearances to partake in the festivities.
Reality TV star and social media influencer Harry Jowsey shared his thoughts at the event, expressing deep gratitude towards Snap. “Honestly, I would be nowhere without Snap. They sent me to the Paris Olympics. They sent me to the White House. They’ve done so much for me — as well as paid my bills!” he said.
The Night’s Conclusion and Future Plans
The event was supposed to culminate with a performance by singer Kehlani, who was expected to deliver a series of hits. However, Matt Friend announced that she, too, would not be appearing in person. Despite this disappointment, the mood remained upbeat among the creators, who enjoyed cocktails and socialized at the afterparty.
Despite the minor setbacks, executives from Snap expressed their intention to turn The Snappys into an annual event, aiming to continually recognize and celebrate the influential creators on their platform.
