The ongoing conflict between one-time best friends Tanin Nikpey and Sky Askari continues to intensify, with Nikpey attributing the breakdown of their relationship to one pivotal phone conversation.

In an exclusive dual interview with Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea,” Nikpey, alongside cast member Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, discussed the emotional deterioration that has unfolded on the Bravo show “The Valley: Persian Style.”

The tipping point of their dispute was highlighted by an incident involving Nikpey’s personal skincare line, skin by TANIN. The situation first heated up when Askari applied one of Nikpey’s proprietary skin oils to Nikpey’s dog, an act that Nikpey interpreted as highly disrespectful. Although it seemed to be initially dismissed as a casual jest, Nikpey felt the gesture had deeper, more hurtful implications.

The conflict escalated during a dinner with the cast, where Reza Farahan brought to light just how upset Nikpey was about the incident. This revelation sparked a heated exchange that laid bare the fractures in their once strong friendship. Since then, the initial hurt feelings have evolved into what seems to be a permanent divide.

Nikpey recalls attempting to confront the issue directly in a private call with Askari, which did not go as planned.

“I called her the following day, brought up my concerns, and she didn’t apologize,” Nikpey said. “She brushed it off, even joking that using the oil might cause her to break out.”

For Nikpey, the conflict wasn’t just about her dog or her skincare line.

“This situation was much deeper than it seemed. I’m a huge dog lover; I rescue dogs. There’s nothing more important to me,” she emphasized.

Gharachedaghi, who has always been openly critical of Askari, supported her friend’s sentiment, highlighting how integral dogs are to Nikpey, even to the extent of affecting her personal life with her husband, Greg Haroutunian.

“Her husband doesn’t even sleep in the same bed with her because the dogs prefer to sleep there,” Gharachedaghi commented, laughing.

Yet, Nikpey clarifies that her pain was less about the specific actions and more about a perceived lack of support from Askari.

“It wasn’t about the dogs or the oil. It was about questioning the product and everything else. I just wanted her to be supportive, to celebrate the product and move on,” Nikpey explained.

Nikpey also reflected on whether their participation in reality TV might have expedited the decline of their friendship, suggesting that while existing issues were exacerbated by the show, the problems were already present.

“We had a strong friendship initially, but I feel like things began changing well before this incident. The timing of the show may have seemed right, but I believe everything that happened was authentic. Being on camera does amplify issues, making you see them more clearly,” she shared.

As Nikpey and Askari move forward, viewers can catch the latest drama on “The Valley: Persian Style,” which just concluded its debut season on Bravo and is now available for streaming on Peacock.
