2018 has seen some amazing new music being shared by some of the incredible female Country Music artists around the world. From the likes of US sensation Sarah Darling to homegrown talents like Ward Thomas, we have had some brilliant singles shared.
Here we take a look at the 5 top singles released over the course of the past twelve months:
Sarah Darling – Wasted – March
Back in March ahead of her debut headlining UK tour, US sensation and adopted Brit Sarah Darling released the outstanding single ‘Wasted’. This song has a very personal meaning for many, myself included. The lyrics about living with someone who suffers from alcohol addiction really hit home and Sarah’s breathtaking vocal elevates it to a whole new place. ‘Wasted’ is one of Sarah’s best releases to date and the raw emotion of the song has helped many fans come to terms with the subject matter.
Danielle Bradbery FT Thomas Rhett – Goodbye Summer – August
As summer was drawing to a close Danielle Bradbery teamed up with Thomas Rhett to release a re-working of her 2017 smash-hit ‘Hello Summer’. The new version titled ‘Goodbye Summer’ dropped in August and offered fans a brilliant track to head into Autumn with. The vocal harmonies of Bradbery and Rhett are outstanding and this single was a real highlight of the musical calendar this year.
The Shires – Stay The Night Acoustic – August
Following the success of their hugely popular third studio album ‘Accidentally On Purpose’, The Shires decided to release an acoustic version of the stunning Ed Sheeran penned track ‘Stay The Night’. This is a real standout from the British duo as it showcases their gorgeous harmonies and really shines a light on their overall Country tone. 2018 was massive for The Shires and this version of ‘Stay The Night’ is a real highlight of the year.
Carly Pearce – Closer to You- November
The first taste of Carly Pearce’s 2019 album came as 2018 started drawing to a close in the form of the 90’s infused hit ‘Closer To You’. Following a string of break-up tracks in 2017, 2018’s music is all about finding love for Carly. With ‘Closer To You’ she delves into her 90’s inspiration to create a modern yet old-school classic that will delight fans of artists such as Shania Twain. ‘Closer To You’ is one of the major standout releases of this past year and 2019 is set to be huge for Carly Pearce.
Ward Thomas – No Filter – December
Ward Thomas have released a string of singles this year as they gear up for the release of their eagerly anticipated third studio album ‘Restless Minds’ on February 1st, 2019. One of their best releases is the recently dropped ‘No Filter’ which is outstanding song that focuses on how you should be unapologetically you no matter what. The lyrics are inspirational and Ward Thomas’ sibling harmonies are on another level. Once again the twins have showcased their talents in a wonderful way.
