Introducing Georgia Barker!
It’s always great to feature a new artist on Belles and Gals for the first time, so today I’m delighted to introduce Georgia Barker. Just this week Georgia signed a deal with MHMG, which certainly raised my eyebrows, so I sought out Georgia to find out more about the Lancashire based artist. Here’s my chat with Georgia about all things music, Taylor Swift and meeting with Henry VIII!
Hi Georgia, I want to start by saying congratulations on your link up with MHMG! It must be an exciting time in your music career?
Thankyou so much! Absolutely, I’m so excited to be working with such a brilliant team and I can’t wait to see what we create together!
If you had to describe your sound to anyone who hasn’t heard you before, what words would you use?
I’d say more modern country and western pop with my own little twist of individuality in my lyrics.
So how did it all start for you? Have you always wanted to sing? Was it a case of hairbrush in front of the mirror from a young age?
Absolutely, I’ve been singing for as long as I could remember. I used to sing along with Sandy from Grease with my little hairbrush and costumes and pretend to be singing to thousands!
And if you had to pick out a particular highlight from your career so far, what would it be?
Actually, it would be signing with MHMG, I’ve had so many positive comments and spoke to so many lovely people- it’s made everything I’ve worked for seem worth it.

And which artists would you say have had an influence in your career?
Definitely Taylor Swift, she introduced me to modern Country music as a teenager and I’ve always loved her lyrics. Dolly Parton is definitely one of my main influences alongside Kacey Musgraves and the amazing Luke Combs. There are so many I could list but those are definitely my favourites.
If you could play the perfect gig which artist would join you on stage for a duet?
100% Taylor Swift, it would be a dream come true.
Tell us something completely random about yourself?
Erm, I’m a major shopaholic (guilty). I have over 200 dresses and still complain I have nothing to wear! Ha ha
You’re hosting a fantasy dinner party. You can invite 3 famous non-musician guests from the past or the present. Who would you invite?
I found this pretty tough as there are so many famous musicians I would love invite. But I think I’d like to invite Anne Frank, Martin Luther King and Henry VIII I think the conversations would be amazing and so interesting.
To finish, tell us about your hopes and plans for 2019, and tell us where we can find you on social media.
I am currently working on my first EP so getting that recorded and released is definitely the main plan whilst still gigging and performing whenever I can!
