It’s one of three album tracks she penned with producer/husband Marty Stuart, and Connie estimates that over the years they have co-written an incredible 40 or 50 songs. ” We’ve had such a great time” she affirms, ” We’ve been together long enough now that we’re starting to think alike”. Marty adds ” When we write a new song that feels like it’s been here for 40 years and has the feeling of an old friend, I know we’re there. I love writing with her. She’s the world’s greatest finisher, polisher and helper, as well as the consummate song hound”.
Connie has been consistently fanning the country music flames since her first hit single in 1964, ” Once A Day” , and has inspired numerous artists along the way. She describes country music as being ” the cry of the heart ” hence the new album’s title, and explains that ” We all have these experiences in our hearts and I’m trying to identify and communicate with people so they know they’re no alone”.
She celebrated both her incredible career and upcoming release recently by taking over the Grand Ole Opry with her husband and artists including Lee Ann Womack and Mandy Barnett, with legends including Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Tanya Tucker congratulating her on her achievements.
