Louise Parker’s ‘Lie to Me’ – Out Now!
Today sees the release of ‘Lie to Me’, the new single from the modern country pop artist. This is the first solo release of the year from Louise, who is now entering her second year of management with us here at Belles and Gals.
The opening bars of ‘Lie to Me’ are completely striking, simply Louise Parker baring her soul with an Acapella opening that makes you sit up and take notice immediately. The words ‘Lie to me, lie to me, tell me you love me, say you’ll be true to me’ are so charged with emotion that you know this going to be an emotional ride. The artwork (above) might have already given you an inkling of the power of the song, but on hearing those first lines, you’re already sold.
It’s at this point that the piano kicks in, and the whole of the excellent production integrates with Louise’s delicate but palpably powerful vocals from the opening. The words I’ve seen used to describe this song over and over already are ‘vulnerable’ or ‘vulnerability’, and there’s no more perfect an adjective to use.
Lyrics such as ‘And I’ll leave your side of the bed made, just in case you come back one day’ alongside the electric guitar, bass guitar, fiddle and drums create an atmospheric track, where you almost feel like you can touch the emotion, as it’s all around.
On Sunday evening, Matt Spracklen premiered this track on Country Hits Radio – using the word ‘brave’ and describing the song as ‘absolutely brilliant’. I can only echo those words, but here at Belles and Gals we can add one more.
