Interview with Abi
Last week Abi released her fantastic new single ‘Boomerang’, a song we described as ‘…a fantastic and searing slice of country pop which shows off the tremendous talent of the Texas native.’
So good is the song in fact that we felt the need to catch up with Abi and find out more – Nick Cantwell had a chat with Abi this week!
Hi Abi, we’re delighted to feature you again on Belles and Gals again and to chat to you for the first time! Your new single ‘Boomerang’ came out on Friday – it’s a fantastic new track with an amazing energy, perfect as we head slowly towards the summer. Can you give us an insight into how the song came about?
Thank you so much for all of your support! It means the world. Although I didn’t write the song, I fell in love with it the first time I heard it. Not only is it extremely infectious, I felt lyrically it strongly resonated with who I am.
Being a site based in the UK, some readers might be listening to you for the first time. If you had to describe your sound, what would you say?
I would say it’s country at its lyrical and sonic core, but heavily influenced by my love for pop as well! I don’t shy away from blending the two—it represent who I am equally as an artist as it does my own personal taste.
And how did it all start for you? Have you always wanted to sing? And if you had to pick out a particular career highlight, what would it be?
I have always loved to perform, even from five years old, standing on one of the chairs at dinner yelling at my family to watch me sing and dance. Maybe I’m just an attention hog! All jokes aside, so much of my identity is performing—that’s the biggest highlight for me.
