EP REVIEW: Jessica Robinson’s Self-Titled Debut
This Friday (May 17th) fast rising Country/Pop artist Jessica Robinson will be dropping her long awaited self-titled debut EP. The record features four brand new original tracks including the breakout single ‘Anyday OK’. Here at Belles and Gals we are delighted to have been given an early listen.
The record kicks off with ‘Doing It All Wrong’ which is a sweet infused Country track that shines a light on Robinson’s stripped back vocal tone. It’s a strong opener and has a real Pop kick that elevates it to new levels and gives it a real mainstream vibe. This one has the potential to become a radio smash this Summer.
‘Giving My Heart Away’ comes next and this is a track that’s led by a pure Country production. It’s a major standout on the EP and it allows Jessica Robinson’s soothing voice to truly shine. It’s heartfelt and empowering in equal measure and gives the record room to breathe as it drives it into new avenues thanks to its stripped back Country storytelling lyrical style.
‘Stupid Things’ is the penultimate song on the EP and once again it takes the sonic sound to new heights and thanks to its toe-tapping Pop crossover beat combined with its strong lyrics it has major old school Taylor Swift vibe and will no doubt delight Country/Pop fans around the globe.
The record closes out with the breakout single ‘Anyday OK’ and it is the perfect way to bring the EP to an end. There’s no surprise why this become a such a hit. It has a classic 90s Country vibe thanks to its insanely catchy chorus and majorly infectious Pop production. This one has the opportunity to become a huge chart and radio hit with the right support.
Overall the self-titled debut EP from Jessica Robinson is a fun, Country crossover record that gives fans a real insight into the kind of artist this singer/songwriter wants to become long term.
