Sinead Burgess Releases Brand New Single, ‘Reno’!

Sinead Burgess has released her brand new single, titled Reno, today.

The Australian Singer/Songwriter moved to Nashville with the dream of recording Country music and has played legendary venues like The Bluebird Café. Her debut acoustic album, Damaged Goods, was released last year and was a great success.

Sinead made waves on the UK Country scene when she supported The Shires on their Accidentally On Purpose Tour, which is where I first discovered her music. Not knowing who Sinead was before this, I have to say I was blown away by her performance. She returned to the UK to support Paul Young on his 35 Years Of No Parlez Tour in April this year.

Songs from Damaged Goods have been on my playlists since the album’s release, so I was very excited to read her single announcement earlier this week. After my initial listen to the track, I’m very impressed!

Sinead has taken a step away from the acoustic production of D.G. Reno has more of a Rock edge whilst holding onto Country elements. Her soulful voice compliments this style and blends with the instrumental nicely.

I have to mention that hearing the harmonica in Sinead’s songs is an absolute delight. If you’ve ever seen her live, you’ll know that she plays harmonica and guitar at the same time – now that’s talent! As for the sound of the instrument, it almost gives Reno a nostalgic feel and ties each aspect of the song together.

The lyrics in this track are stunning. Reno seems to be a metaphor for leaving a place that was once exciting turned toxic – the subject feels she should stop gambling with her emotions. “I’m laying out the cards // screw the boulevard and this casino”.

Overall, I love Reno, and think it opens doors to what is looking like a fantastic next chapter in Sinead’s career.

You can listen to Reno on all good streaming services now!
