Up and Coming Country star Georgia Webster tells Belles and Gals all about the “Push & Pull” of Nashville and plans for the EP.
Last July Georgia Webster created a Tik Tok buzz with her video of her original track Tell your Mom, quickly igniting the ears of country lovers and resulting in millions of views. Hailing from a small town in Massachusetts, Georgia recalls her earliest musical memories came from an album of Zimbabwean lullabies her parents brought back from Africa, which became the soundtrack of her youth.
Since then, she began singing, writing, then teaching herself guitar and performing at school. She finished school this year with two hit tracks under her belt and as a result of her Tik Tok reach, won a contract with Sony Music and River Artists and as the story goes… moved to Nashville!
We caught up with Georgia in June actually on her way to Nashville to begin the next step in her country music journey. She told us all about how she started, plans for the future and how’s she’s enjoying working with her new team. Thank you, Georgia for your time, sharing your thoughts and good luck with the EP release later this summer!
Congratulations on your signing with Riverhouse Artists and Sony Music Nashville earlier this year! Now you’ve had a few months with the team, how are you feeling about the plans and the team around you?
Aw thank you!! I’m so excited to be working with both Sony Music Nashville and Riverhouse Artists. The past few months have been really busy with finishing up school while also working on my debut EP that’ll be out soon. The team has been so great about letting me enjoy my last few months of high-school and communicating with me from where they are in Nashville.
What are you most looking forward to once you move out to Nashville?
Yes!! I’m actually answering these questions right now while in the car with my mom on the way to Nashville. My parents are moving me in this week and I’m definitely really excited (but also scared) to be somewhat adulting and doing things on my own. I’m even more excited about playing writers rounds and writing more songs!!
Growing up what was your favourite music or artists to listen to?
Growing up I listened to the most random variety of artists; I liked Carrie Underwood a lot in middle school and sang “Something in the Water” for my 6th grade talent show. My mom listened to Eva Cassidy a lot who I really loved, as well as bands like Keane and Cake.
What are the “go to” albums or “go to” artists that you are listening to right now today?
My go to albums are definitely Continuum and The Search for Everything by John Mayer, I love him. I’ve also been obsessed with Olivia Rodrigo lately.
When was the first spark of inspiration to write your first song? How did you know this is what you wanted to do?
My first spark of inspiration for writing a song was definitely in 4th grade for my president project. I always tell this story because I think it’s so funny, but basically we had a project where we had to do something creative for a president we were assigned. I was just starting to teach myself guitar at the time, so I decided to write my first song… about Ulysses S. Grant. I performed it for the class, and they loved it, and I think that’s when I knew I would do that forever.
Tell us a little about your process today, music or lyrics first? Are your songs always autobiographical?
My songs are honestly all very different, most of the time the lyrics and melody come to me at the same time. I’ll start with an idea or story I feel really strongly about and then go from there. Usually, the good songs take about 20 minutes, I can never really finish a song if I don’t do it in one sitting.
Can you tell us a little bit about “Push & Pull”?
I wrote “Push & Pull” my sophomore year of high school, I had just gotten out of my first “real” relationship which was pretty rocky. Right after this relationship, this other guy started really liking me. He seemed perfect and would do all this wicked nice stuff for me; but the thing was I just wasn’t used to it at all. I felt like it was too much and I was so frustrated and confused as to why I didn’t like this guy who seemed perfect. That’s when I sat down and wrote “Push & Pull.”
Can you tell us a little bit about the tracks for the EP? Are they drawing on your early work or have you been writing new tracks for the EP? When is the EP due out?
Yes!! There is an EP on the way this summer. I’m really excited, it’s a mix of songs I’ve written throughout my high school career by myself in my room. Bringing those songs to life has been amazing (shout-out to my producer Paul DiGiovanni for helping me do that).

How do you reflect on your journey so far? What would you say to your younger self if you had the chance?
I’m definitely really happy with where I’m headed and I think my younger self would be proud. I’m so grateful for this opportunity. God has really blessed me, and I’m pumped for whatever’s to come!!
We are sure you will be looking forward to performing as soon as current restrictions allow. When do you anticipate touring? Do you have any plans to come to the UK? We’d love to see you over here sometime!
I would LOVE to come to the UK. As of right now I’m definitely going to be playing a lot around Nashville, but I’m reallyyyy hoping to get the chance to go on tour after the EP!!
Really exciting times ahead for Georgia and I for one can’t wait to hear the full EP later this year. Watch out for Georgia’s news on her socials.
