Hannah May Allison’s New Single “Don’t Hate The Idea” Out Now
I think it’s “safe” to say that it’s been a pretty exciting few months for Nashville-based singer/songwriter Hannah May Allison since the release of her last single, appropriately titled “Safe”, in April. It gained over 160,000 streams collectively and was added to several Spotify and Apple Music playlists (rising to no. 2 on Spotify’s “Women of Country” playlist) and June saw Amy Brown from the Bobby Bones show feature the song on Women of iHeartCountry, which aired on all 150+ iHeartCountry radio stations across the US. The exposure helped “Safe” chart on Mediabase at #81 making it her first ever single to chart on country radio, huge congratulations on that fantastic achievement, Hannah! She has also come to the attention of CMT and is now part of their CMT/Ram Trucks Artist Discovery Program. Hot on the back of this success, Californian native Hannah has a brand new single out now, ” Don’t Hate The Idea”, which will resonate with anyone who wants to “play it cool” in a new relationship for fear of jinxing it. I think most of us have been there, trying to keep our expectations low while at the same time hoping things will work out! Teaming up again with producer by Zachary Manno and co-writing with up and coming Seattle pop artist Drea Gordon, this third single of 2021 from Hannah showcases the pop side of her country repertoire and her hope is that it makes for a fun, end if Summer release.
As the song starts we hear that things are going pretty well in the relationship so far, which is what leads Hannah to thing tentatively about its future , although she doesn’t “want to get my hope up in case it blows up in my face“. But it’s only natural to think ahead, and although she’s “not sure I’m looking at the rest of my life right here” she knows that she doesn’t “Hate the idea” . I love the concept behind this write, once again Hannah has tackled a highly relatable subject and the lyrics are on the fun side of deep thinking if that makes sense! As always, her voice are dreamy smooth and there’s some lovely background harmonies from Hannah too. The track has a great country pop groove going on with some impressive but subtle lead guitar but the accompaniment never detracts from the lead vocals.
Yes, I think this is a further very strong single from this hard working artist who is deservedly on the rise …..I don’t hate the idea of this being another well received release !
