Having established herself as one of Nashville’s brightest rising stars, writing songs for the likes of Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Meghan Trainor and Garth Brooks, Caitlyn Smith has announced the release of her third studio album “High” via Monument Records on 8th April.
Following on from 2018’s “Starfire” and 2020’s “Supernova“, which further established her as not only an accomplished writer but also one of the best vocalists of this generation, this time round Caitlyn has also self-produced the upcoming 8 track project. Talking about this new challenge, The ACM New Female Artist Of The year nominee explains “Self-producing has taught me so much about trusting my own compass. It has been a beautifully terrifying experience and has added a layer of vulnerability when you’re also responsible for painting the sonic landscape as an artist, in addition to writing and singing the songs”. She adds ” Through this process I’ve grown, I’ve made a record I’m really proud of …a record that’s all mine“.
There’s been a taste of what we can expect from the two singles released already, Caitlyn’s own version of the soaring and reflective title track (I love the fiddle in this arrangement!) which she wrote alongside Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Erin Decilveo and which Cyrus originally released on her album “Plastic Hearts“, and most recently “Downtown Baby” , a punchy upbeat ear worm of a song advocating living life the full (written by Caitlyn Smith/ Gordie Sampson/Thomas Tawgs Salter/ Simon Wilcox)
After spending the last year opening for George Strait, Reba, Little Big Town and Old Dominion across the US, Caitlyn has just announced her own headlining “High & Low Tour 2022” Stateside which kicks off in her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 1st .
But before that she is of course hopping across the pond to perform to her UK fans at this year’s C2C festival where she’ll be playing the CMA Songwriter’s Series this Thursday before a variety of sets throughout the three day festival in London.
