Introducing Sofia Claire : Latest Single “Kickin’ Up Stardust” Out Now
Today we are featuring California’s Sofia Claire on the site for the first time. Born and raised on a farm in Redwood City, she is influenced by artists including Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton and has a passion for everything cowgirl! Her father taught her all he knew about farming, hunting and animals, while her mother shared her passion for Country music with her daughter… it was always playing in the family home and really shaped Sophia as a Country singer. She is a favourite choice for performing the National Anthem on the rodeo circuit, and in 2021 released her debut single “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing Today” and the follow up, “Always Almost Over You“. This opened the door for new opportunities for writing and performing, she is excited to be ‘back in the saddle again’ with her band for a Summer tour this year and new music.
The latest single “Kickin’ Up Stardust” was released last Friday, 28th February, a catchy, toe-tapper of a song which Sophia co-wrote with multi-award winning songwriter Steve Bogard and Michael Wilkes. Produced by Dr Ford and recorded at the Sound Kitchen in Franklin, Tennessee with studio musicians, the song’s positive message is about keeping your head held high and focusing on bigger and brighter days ahead when you get kicked down.
There’s some really great lyrics which put a smile on my face, among my favourites being “You were just a bright, shiny hunk of fool’s gold. I’m scattering glitter ‘cross this hardwood floor, I’m a honky tonk angel with a neon halo” .
