Introducing Christina Martin : New Single “Little Princess” Out Now

Today we are featuring Canadian artist Christina Martin for the first time, an acclaimed singer/songwriter also known for her electric live shows who launched her solo career way back in 2002 with her debut album “Pretty Things“.
Now preparing to release her 8th studio album “Storm” this August, Christina is an artist who is constantly shifting and evolving musically, refusing to be pigeon-holed and unafraid to challenge herself. Having moving from Canada’s East Coast to Austin, Texas in 1999 to work as a nanny, and having never picked up a guitar before Christina quickly fell in love with the city’s live music bars joining the high-energy rock band Young Heart Attack before branching out on her own. Since then she hasn’t looked back, releasing seven albums to date and touring relentlessly throughout North America and Europe as well as launching her own record label “Come Undone Records“.
Her music dances effortlessly through pop, rock, folk and Americana traditions, but through it all runs a backbone of raw honesty about the human condition and a talent for making the personal universal which she has achieved once again in her latest single “Little Princess” released last week together with a dramatic accompanying video. A rock track at its core, adding beautiful sweeping strings into the mix means the song takes on a more ethereal tone and is given a cinematic feel. As Christina explains, the song is an ode to her late brother… “Growing up I admired my older brother, who was a gifted artist, but also a rebel. He died in 2013 of an opioid overdose at the age of 41.This song touches on our relationship, and a memory of writing my first prose and wanting to impress him with it. We were two embryonic artists, intrinsically bound by blood and similarities, and yet with mental illness in the mix, we kept each other at arm’s length.”

Catch Christina live in the UK at the ever-popular Maverick Festival June 30th – July 2nd, which she is following up with a European tour this Autumn and a UK tour in March 2024 ( dates tbc)
